About the Group


Creating Calm is a four-week expressive arts therapy group for women who experience anxiety. You’ll discover how your body responds to stress and learn soothing techniques through guided art-making, gentle reflection, education, and conversation. 

No art experience is needed—every activity is supportive, accessible, and designed to meet you where you are.

You Will Learn To:


• Recognize your nervous system cues
• Build emotional and somatic self-awareness
• Develop practical tools for grounding and regulation
• Reconnect with a sense of steadiness, safety, and inner calm

What’s Included


• initial 15-minute connect call after signing up
• Four live 90-minute group sessions
• Guided expressive arts prompts
• One 15-minute wrap-up call (optional)
• Optional reflection questions & practices to use between sessions

Women who:
• Experience anxiety, overwhelm, or stress
• Want to understand their body’s signals
• Prefer creative, gentle approaches over talk-heavy therapy
• Are looking for a supportive community and safer space


Participants must be in Alberta or Ontario

What You’ll Explore Each Week

Wednesdays, January 7–28 • 6:30–8:00 p.m. MST

Location: Online (secure Zoom platform)

Week 1 — Window of Tolerance

Understand emotional zones—calm, overwhelm and shutdown while creating a visual map of your personal regulation patterns.

Week 2 — Calm Place

Discover imagery, sensations, and memories that evoke safety, groundedness, and joy.


Week 3 — The Element

Connect with the natural elements—water, air, fire, and earth—to explore balance,relaxation and inspiration  movement, and emotional flow.

Week 4 — Body Mapping

Use creative expression to tune into your body’s messages, strengths, and areas seeking attention or relief.

Fees & Insurance

$500 total (may be covered by insurance)

Please check with your insurance company. Insurance providers require separate receipts for each session. Separate invoices (showing the session date, facilitator’s registration number, and $125 fee per session) can be provided after each session.

Connection Call

Before the group begins, we will have a brief 10–15 minute connection call.

This is an opportunity to say hello, answer any questions, discuss any needed accommodations, and ensure the group feels like a good fit for your needs.

What do I Need

Plain paper OR a journal/sketchbook

Colouring tools of your choice - pencil, pens, markers, crayons, pencil crayons

Optional paints, pastels, charcoals, collage materials 

Device to connect to the Internet (laptop or ipad preferred)
